[ history ]

General

RPG Maker is a program which is used to make Roleplaying Games (RPGs) using a Runetime Package (RTP) which contains many files such as chipsets, character sets, and music files. There is alot of potential for games made with RPG Maker, although the resolution is like that of a Gameboy Advance resized to fit your computer screen.

The different versions of RPG Maker include RPG Maker, RPG Maker 2000 and RPG Maker 2003. RPG Maker 2000's battle sequences are different from those of RPG Maker 2003. 2000 creates turn-based battles, while 2003's battle sequences are more like the later versions of Final Fantasy where you can perform an action every so many seconds.
