Musicals are performed on-stage by actors and actresses before live audiences. They are comparable to plays; however, musicals have songs that the characters sing throughout the show. Although they are usually associated with Broadway in New York City, New York, not all musicals are performed on Broadway. There are national tours and off-Broadway productions as well.
